Dr. Gail Saunders

Gail North was born in Nassau, The Bahamas. In 1968, she married Winston Saunders. She obtained an Honours Degree in Modern History in 1966 from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and a PhD in History from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1985. Pioneer Bahamian Archivist, she served as Director of the Bahamas National Archives for 33 years (1971-2004) and as Director General of Heritage between 2004 and 2009. She has authored numerous academic papers and authored or co-authored eleven books including Slavery in The Bahamas 1648-1838, Bahamian Society After Emancipation (with Michael Craton), and Islands in the Stream. She was honoured by The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce in 1984 (Distinguished Citizen’s Award for Government), The University of The West Indies (Honorary Doctorate in 2004), and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (Officer of The Most Excellent Order of The British Empire - O.B.E.) in 2003.

Mrs. Amanda Coulson

Amanda Coulson is the Director of the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, in Nassau, on the island of New Providence. She studied for her Master’s Degree at the Institute of Fine Arts at NYU and started out at the Old Master dealer, Wildenstein & Sons, on New York’s Upper East Side before going on to work in various galleries in London, Paris and Milan. Developing as a writer and art critic, Coulson spent 2 years as Editor of the Italian/English contemporary art magazine tema celeste out of Milan, Italy, before moving to Frankfurt, Germany, where she consolidated her critical chops writing for international magazines such as Frieze, Art Review, and Modern Painters (U.K.); Art News (USA); and Lapiz (Spain), to name a few. She has also provided critical texts for monographic gallery exhibitions and institutional shows, such as the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt or the Nassauischer Kunstverein in Wiesbaden and worked as a freelance curator. Coulson is one of the co-founders and for 7 years acted as Executive Director of the VOLTA contemporary art fairs, in both Basel, Switzerland, and New York, USA, whom she currently serves as a Curatorial Consultant.
Felix Nathaniel Stubbs
Mr. Felix Stubbs has devoted many years working with others for the betterment of young Bahamians from all walks of life while serving on many government, civic and private boards. For this effort, he was awarded the honour of Member of the British Empire in January 1997 and the Honourary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from BWR Ministries & Seminary in Richmond, Virginia in December 2006. On January 20, 2007, he was bestowed the title of Knight by the Knights of The Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller. In addition to his government and civic boards, Mr. Stubbs is Vice-Chairman of Doctors Hospital and Chair of the Finance Committee. Mr. Stubbs is the Assistant District Governor of the Rotary Clubs of the Bahamas District 7020 and the Past President of The Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise. He is a member of the World President's Organization and is married with two sons.

Karen is an accomplished executive with more than fifteen years experience in the field of human and business management. She is a member of the executive leadership team of Kerzner International Bahamas Limited’s Atlantis and the One & Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island where she serves as Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Karen serves as director and board member on numerous professional and philanthropic boards. She has conducted workshops and seminars on leadership development. She has led major change initiatives in organizational behavior. She is an award winning professional for her contributions in the field of Human Resources Management for The Bahamas and the Caribbean.

Clarice Sinclair Sands/Granger has been involved in community development through many organizations including the Bahamas Girl Guides Council, The Volunteer Crisis Centre, The Corona Society, The Y.W.C.A. and the Government Advisory Board on Youth. She has also served as the Assistant Organist at Christ Church Cathedral and St Christopher’s Lyford Cay. Among the awards she has received are The Golden Heart Award and Officer of the British Empire. Before retiring, she worked as a Superintendent Radiographer at Princess Margaret Hospital as well as an Office Administrator at Templeton Global Advisors Ltd., in Lyford Cay. She was married to the late William J. Granger, the first Bahamian Dean of Nassau and Vicar General of the Anglican Diocese of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
